Featured Client Work: Port Hedland International Airport

What the client asked for:

As one of the busiest airports in WA, servicing hundreds of thousands of passengers each year, celebrating a successful year of operations was an important part of the business. The PHIA contacted us with the brief for a colourful, relaxed, family-friendly Christmas Party that was inclusive and could be held in their offices. They wanted something out-of-the-box and an event that focused on supporting local small businesses. They engaged us for the entire event planning process - from developing the full concept, catering, theming, equipment, entertainment, gifting, photography and unique activities for young and old, games and prizes.

what we did:

With this brief in mind, we created the concept of a tropical-themed party, with a tiki bar, leis for everyone, a tropical photobooth and of course, a visit from the big man himself! We sourced all the equipment and decor, including the portable tiki bar, as well as organising for an event photographer as part of the package.

The event was a hit with everyone, especially the young ones who enjoyed the fun atmosphere and were delighted to meet Santa a wee bit earlier than all their friends!

Featured Client Work: BHP Port Hedland Long Service Awards

What the client asked for:

BHP has been operating in the Pilbara for as long as anyone can remember, and is one of the region’s largest employers. It also boasts employees who have worked for them for over 20 years, which is no mean feat! When BHP approached PPP Events for their Long Service Awards, they wanted something different from the usual formal events they held in the past. Their brief was to create an event that was fun and relaxed, something the employees would enjoy and remember for years to come.

what we did:

We had some big shoes to fill, as BHP has held some fantastic events in the past. Understanding the desire for something classy but true to Pilbara, we knew that providing good entertainment and a way to make special memories was key to a successful event. We worked closely with the venue, The Esplanade Hotel, and PCC Productions to deliver the event.

We hired well-known local artist, Jordan Williams, to provide live acoustic music throughout the night which set the mood for the event. Everyone in Hedland loves to dance so having live music was essential.

We also created a photobooth for the employees and their guests to use, meaning they were able to have a bit of fun, and also take photos that were meaningful to them and would make them smile whenever they looked back on them.

Adrian and his father also specially made a jarrah tabletop which was the focus point of our set up - check out the photo in our Gallery.

Featured Client Work: Port Hedland Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service

What the client asked for:

Volunteers are the heart and soul of Pilbara communities, and we were honoured to be asked to create a design concept for the Port Hedland Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service’s awards night. The PHVRFS wanted an event that was light-hearted, colourful and paid respect to the hard work of the volunteers. This was a night for the volunteers to let their hair down and celebrate a great year of achievements and success.

what we did:

We decided to use colours associated with the PHVFRS - red and blue - and create a simple and classic layout. For this event, we provided equipment and decor, and also sourced lighting as the awards night was held outdoors and in the evening. Although we kept it simple, we also introduced playful elements to keep the event fun and light-hearted, such as including lollies in the centrepieces which could be enjoyed throughout the evening.

The volunteers had a great time and the simplicity of the design kept the focus on purpose of the event - acknowledging the people in our community who keep us safe and encourage others to call Hedland home.

Featured Client Work: Michelle and Brook’s engagement party

What the client asked for:

Michelle and Brook came to us, with a brief for an engagement party that was fun, fun, fun! They wanted an event that reflected their love of throwing a good party, that focused on creating a vibrant and beautiful ambience. An intimate event, it was held in their backyard so we had to create a concept that was suitable for the space, and still encouraged everyone to relax and let their hair down.

what we did:

No one loves a fun party better than us! For this event, we knew that ensuring everyone was well-fed and always with a drink in their hand was important for it to be a success. To achieve this, we used our portable bar and provided bar services for the night, creating a cocktail menu and even coming up with our own signature espresso martini recipe! We also set up a grazing table which was continually topped up throughout the night. To create the ambience they wanted, we used a lot of mood lighting, including a ‘starry night’ ceiling above the main dining table which made everyone feel like they were dining under the stars.

Featured Client Work: Jess and Mason’s seaside wedding

What the client asked for:

Port Hedland has some amazing coastal locations, and Jess and Mason wanted to celebrate their big day by the ocean, creating a beautiful, natural backdrop for their ceremony. Their brief was to keep it simple, ensuring that the ocean was the feature of the wedding (and them, of course!).

Jess provided us with the colour scheme and flowers, and left the rest to us to create something magical for her extra special day.

what we did:

When you have a stunning backdrop like Pretty Pool beach, the key is minimalism. We used white chair covers and navy blue sashes (colour theme was navy blue) to draw people’s attention to the main star of the show - the wedding arch, under which Jess and Mason would be getting married.

Sticking to the minimalistic theme, we use white fabric to create the base of the wedding arch, and Jess provided the sunflowers to adorn the arch. The sunflowers were a perfect match for Jess and Mason’s sunny and cheery personalities!

Jess and Mason loved the final result, with the wedding arch framing the ocean beautifully and providing a stunning backdrop for the ceremony.

Featured Client Work: Jodie + Jaydon’s engagement party

What the client asked for:

Engagement parties and weddings were all but cancelled and postponed when Covid-19 restrictions were introduced; and since they’ve been lifted we’ve seen an influx of requests for these types of events.

Jodie and Jaydon were eager to celebrate their engagement with family and friends and chose to utilise the beautiful Courthouse Gallery Gardens in Port Hedland’s West End. The party was to be vintage/boho inspired, using neutral, earthy tones and natural materials. Being an evening event meant we had to select props and decor that would illuminate and beautify the space.

what we did:

Our wine barrels and wooden crates were the perfect option in terms of decor, and paired with fairy lights in wine bottles and natural textures such as pine and hessian, it created a luxe, bohemian vibe. We also teamed up with local company PCC Productions who installed bunting lights amongst the trees which lit up the space and created a beautiful entry statement. Local balloon company Gorgeous Gifts and Balloons provided a balloon arch in neutral tones which tied the whole event decor together.

Jodie and Jaydon were in love with the final result, getting to celebrate a bohemian style engagement with family and friends on a beautiful Pilbara winter evening.
